Tucked away in a Vaughan industrial complex is a hidden gem serving up a variety of flavourful Mexican dishes. Mila’s Mexican offers an expansive menu full of yummy apps, mains, desserts, and drinks.

We don’t always venture into the downtown core, but one of our most justifiable reasons to brave public transit is to acquire delicious, authentic Mexican food. As individuals who live outside the downtown core, we are always excited when we learn about new Mexican places closer to home.

Inside the restaurant are vibrant colours, sombreros, and a bar – what more could you need, right? Service is wonderful and workers are knowledgeable and passionate about Mila’s offerings.

For appetizers, Mila’s has all of your Mexican favourites, along with classic bar bites. You can get mozzarella sticks, onion rings, wings, and more if you’re dining with friends but aren’t in the Mexican mood. If you are though, we wholeheartedly recommend Mila’s loaded nachos with guacamole (pictured below). Toppings are generous and expertly paired, and the guacamole is fresh and flavorful.

We also loved their Mexican poutine (pictured below), which features toasty fries loaded with gooey cheddar, chipotle sauce, sour cream, fresh tomato, green onion, and jalapeno slices.

Mila’s also has a Mexican main for everyone, whether you’re craving tacos or something a little heartier.

We tried the fish and chicken tinga tacos (pictured above), served on flour tortillas. The latter starred spicy and flavorful chicken and vegetables garnished with lettuce, tomato, cotija cheese, sour cream and cilantro. The fish tacos had tender, moist battered cod served with onion, chipotle sauce and sour cream along with an avocado. The ‘cado was slightly brown, but at least we know Mila’s is using real ingredients! Are we the only ones who get weird out when restaurants serve avocados that are perfectly green? Like, how? Anyway, we would totally recommend either of these taco trios.

If you came to Mila’s hungry, wearing your stretchy pants, you may want to try one of their enchiladas or chimichangas, both of which are served with two sides (comforting beans and perfectly seasoned Mexican rice) for a small additional price of $3.99. Whether you’re enticed by the enchilada (a deep fried tortilla, stuffed with your choice of protein, cheese, bell peppers, tomato, and onion; dipped in your choice of enchilada sauce, topped with green onion and cotija cheese – pictured below!)  or charmed by the chimichanga (Chicken, pork, beef, or beans wrapped in a tortilla with cheese, deep fried, drizzled with sour cream and pico de gallo), Mila’s has you covered.

Other Mexican mains include burrito bowls, tostadas, and quesadillas.

Need something sweet after dinner? No fear! The Mexican deliciousness doesn’t stop at savory. We had a delicious churro sundae (served with caramel or chocolate sauce). You can also order churros solo.
