Think you need to venture all the way into the heart of the city to get some good, authentic Mexican food? Think again! Ay Caramba, Eh! Is conveniently located in Vaughan and serves up Mexican/Latin American goods with a Canadian Twist. The décor inside is quite vibrant, and staff is always very friendly.
The menu has lots of yummy things, beyond your standard tacos and burritos. For appetizers, you can start off with some guac and chips (some of the best money can buy north of the city, by the way!), nachos, or taquitos (pictured below). The taquitos were deliciously crispy and the toppings were quite fresh. The inside could have used a touch more filling and a little more flavor, but it was definitely a great item to share before the main event!
For mains, we absolutely adore Ay Caramba, Eh!’s tacos – served on soft corn tortillas, there are 6 options for fillings: fish haddock, beef brisket, carnita, el poyito, tierra picante, and chori-cheese. Our personal top 3 are the fish haddock, beef brisket, and carnita. The garnishes are expertly paired with the meat and the whole dish is filling, flavorful, and so so yummy.
You can also get a burrito if you’re feeling like a little more filling inside a flour tortilla. These have the same filling options as the tacos and come with lettuce, rice, beans, 3 cheese blend, sour cream, guac, pico de gallo, and pickled jalapeno. The burrito itself looks a bit on the small side, but it was very filling, stuffed to the brim with all of the aforementioned ingredients.
If you’re feeling more like a sandwich than a wrap, Ay Caramba, Eh! has something for you as well! Tortas – basically a Mexican panini – are topped with beans, chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, and pickled jalapeno with your choice of meat – beef brisket, carnitas, or chorizo.
If you’re looking to finish with something sweet, Ay Caramba, Eh! also sells churros, as well as Mexican drinks like the Horchata.
